We provide resources and space to Nunavut post- secondary and graduate students who are furthering their studies. We hire students from the Nunavut Nursing Program and have supported students from Iqaluit schools as summer student employees.
Lastly, we have and continue to offer seminars at universities across Canada on northern health research, most recently, the University of Toronto Dalla Lana School of Public Health, Massey College, Yukon Research Centre, University of Western Ontario, Nunavut Arctic College, McMaster University, and the University of Manitoba in recent years. We work closely with key Nunavut stakeholders including the Nunavut Depts. of Health, Family Services, and Education, as well as Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. and regional Inuit associations. We also work closely with the Nunavut Research Institute and review applications that they received for licensing.
We provide process, outcome, and impact evaluation services to communities, municipal and territorial governments, and Indigenous organizations upon request or invitation.
We believe in the strengths inherent in our way of life as northerners and the opportunities that come from working together in our communities. We believe in working with our community partners to advocate for change by supporting stakeholders, and territorial and national partners, to implement our research findings into policy- and decision-making and to collaborate with the service sector offer our interventions as part of service delivery.
We collaborate with Nunavut partners to review research proposals coming in to Nunavut from outside researchers. We provide a critical review of research methodology, ethics, consent, and theory and share this perspective with all Nunavut partners engaged in the project.
The vision for Qaujigiartiit is to use research as a tool for action to address health inequities in our communities.
